The Fire That Feeds on Sacrifice is a two-hour academic lecture exploring the psychological and philosophical consequences of interference, control, and excessive effort in human experience. Drawing from contemporary perspectives on consciousness, attention, subjective reality, Gestalt psychology, and Mahayana Buddhist thought, the lecture examines how individuals often sustain internal struggle by continuously attempting to force outcomes, manage uncertainty, or resist unfolding experience. Through the framework of non-interference, the session investigates how surrender, receptivity, awareness, and disciplined inner alignment may alter the way reality is perceived, interpreted, and responded to.

The lecture will explore how thought, emotional fixation, anticipation, attachment, and fragmented awareness contribute to cycles of frustration, exhaustion, and psychological contraction. Particular attention will be given to the paradox of excessive striving frequently intensifies the very conditions individuals seek to escape. Drawing from Gestalt perspectives on figure-ground dynamics and Mahayana understandings of attachment, emptiness, and identification, concepts related to imagination, expectancy, emotional embodiment, and self-identification will be examined through a structured and reflective lens, integrating psychological insight with experiential philosophy.

Participants may leave with a deeper understanding of how internal resistance shapes perception, behaviour, awareness, and relational experience. The session aims to offer a more refined awareness of attention, inner posture, and the subtle ways in which relinquishing compulsive interference may create greater coherence, clarity, presence, and psychological freedom.
