Paper & Blue Ink
Triple Refuge Invocation
This offering is a handwritten prayer card, created on thick, archival-grade card paper, chosen for its natural texture, weight, and longevity. The front bears a contemplative image of the Buddha. The reverse carries a classical Pāli invocation, written slowly and deliberately by hand, following the cadence and discipline of monastic practice rather than decorative calligraphy.
The prayer includes the traditional homage Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato Sammā Sambuddhassa, followed by Buddhaṁ Saraṇaṁ Gacchāmi, and concludes with the ethical vow Pāṇātipātā Veramaṇī Sikkhāpadaṁ Samādiyāmi. This sequence reflects a lineage of practice transmitted through forest traditions and living sanghas. The version here has been preserved through the guidance of Sudhammacara and resonates with the Pāli formulations translated and carried forward by Thích Nhất Hạnh, where precision of language meets gentleness of intention.
This prayer is one we chant in the mountains of Georgia, where silence, breath, and repetition shape the inner posture of attention. Each card is therefore less an object and more a practice threshold. It is accompanied by an audio recording of the prayer, allowing the written word and spoken sound to support one another in daily contemplation.
The price for this offering is USD 50.
All proceeds are directed entirely towards the mission of Umang Foundation Trust, supporting initiatives grounded in care, dignity, and inner development.
